'Starter Wife' Author Wedded to NBC

Gigi Levangie Grazer, author of "The Starter Wife," will take another look at divorce in a pilot set up for NBC.

The network has given a script commitment to a dramedy project about a couple in their 30s who are going through a divorce. But since neither has enough money to move out, they keep sharing their house while trying to disentangle their lives.

"The theme of it can be summed up as, 'I hate you, hold me.' It's taking on the idea that divorce is the new marriage," Levangie Grazer tells The Hollywood Reporter.

Levangie Grazer's novel "The Starter Wife," about a high-profile Hollywood divorce, became a USA Network miniseries earlier this year. It earned strong ratings and 10 Emmy nominations, including nods for best miniseries and lead actress Debra Messing.

Like that project, the NBC pilot will draw on some of the author's own experience; Levangie Grazer and her husband, producer Brian Grazer, separated a few months back and are in the process of divorcing.

Another of Levangie Grazer's novels, "Maneater," is being developed as a miniseries at Lifetime.
