Helen Mirren Crowned at European Film Awards

Just because the year is coming to a close doesn't mean that Helen Mirren is done winning accolades for "The Queen."

The actress snagged another award on Saturday, Dec. 1 for her performance as Elizabeth II in the Stephen Frears drama at the 2007 European Film Awards, reports Reuters.

In the film, Her Majesty deals with the aftermath of Princess Diana's death. Mirren, 62, has already won a slew of awards, including an Oscar and Golden Globe, for her performance.

The 20th anniversary ceremony held in Berlin also recognized Sasson Gabai for best actor for starring in the comedy "The Band Visit," about an Egyptian police band lost in Israel.

"4 months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days," which centers on how two student friends are exploited after one goes to have an illegal abortion, was tapped as the best film.

The best screenplay award was given to Faith Akin for "The Edge of Heaven," while Giuseppe Tornatore's "La Sconosciuta" got the People's Choice Award.
