James Caan Gets 'Wise' at Lifetime

James Caan is rejoining the mob, signing on to play a crime boss in an upcoming movie for Lifetime.

The former "Las Vegas" star has joined Alyssa Milano and Jason Gedrick in the cast of "Wisegal," which tells the story of a woman who gets caught up in a Mafia family's business.

Also at Lifetime, Annie Potts ("Designing Women," "Men in Trees") will star opposite Nikki Blonsky ("Hairspray") in the original movie "Queen Sized," the showbiz trade papers report.

"Wisegal" stars Milano, currently recurring on NBC's "My Name Is Earl," as a woman who goes to work for a Brooklyn crime family and becomes romantically involved with one of its captains (Gedrick). Caan will play the boss who convinces Milano's character to work for the family.

The movie is the first TV project for Caan since he left NBC's "Las Vegas" at the end of last season. He has, of course, played mobsters in the past, most famously Sonny Corleone in "The Godfather."

Like "Wisegal," "Queen Sized" is based on a true story. The movie centers on Blonsky's character, an overweight girl who stands up to the insults of some of her classmates and eventually is elected homecoming queen. Potts will play her mother.
