Justin Long Packs For 'Hell'

Justin Long has landed the male lead in Sam Raimi's supernatural thriller "Drag Me To Hell."

Set to be distributed by Universal, the Ghost House Pictures production made news last week when Oscar nominee Ellen Page had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts and was replaced within days by Alison Lohman.

Details are vague on Sam and Ivan Raimi's screenplay, but it involves a young woman (Lohman) dealing with a supernatural curse. Long will play the boyfriend -- the sarcastic, wise-cracking boyfriend? -- of Lohman's character.

"I have long admired Justin's versatility as an actor, and am confident that he is the perfect addition to the cast opposite Alison," Sam Raimi says in a statement. "He has such great warmth and likeability. I'm thrilled to have him on board."

"Drag Me To Hell" will begin production on March 31 in Los Angeles.

Long had a holiday season smash voicing the lead rodent in "Alvin and the Chipmunks." He was most recently seen by several people in "Strange Wilderness" or "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" and by a lot more people in last summer's hit "Live Free or Die Hard."
