ABC Dances Away with Tuesday

Fast National ratings for Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006

The return of "Dancing with the Stars" brought multitudes of viewers to ABC Tuesday, although a lot of them opted not to stick around for a preview of the new dramedy "Men in Trees" at the end of the night.

ABC averaged an 11.5 rating/18 share in primetime, running away with the top spot. FOX finished a fairly distant second at 7.7/12. CBS, 4.8/8, came in third, edging NBC's 4.6/7. The WB trailed with a 1.1/2.

In the adults 18-49 demographic, ABC led the way with a 5.0 rating. FOX was a solid second at 4.6. CBS was third at 2.8, and NBC took fourth with a 2.2. The WB came in at 0.6.

"Dancing with the Stars" delivered an 11.7/19 in its first hour at 8 p.m. FOX's "House" earned a 9.3/15 (and beat ABC in the 18-49 race). The finale of "Big Brother: All-Stars" put CBS in third with a 5.3/8. "Fear Factor" was fourth for NBC, and a "Gilmore Girls" rerun on NBC scored a 1.1/2.

At 9 p.m., "Dancing" improved to 14.6/23. That put a big dent in FOX's "Standoff," which posted a 6.1/9, well off its premiere last week. NBC moved up to third with "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," 4.6/7, dropping CBS and "Rock Star: Supernova" (4.3/6) to fourth. The WB went with another "Gilmore Girls."

ABC stayed on top at 10 p.m., but the "Men in Trees" preview squandered much of its lead-in and finished at 8.0/13. "Law & Order: SVU" scored a 6.1/10 for NBC. CBS finished third with an "NCIS" rerun, 4.9/9.
