Ruffalo, Phoenix Travel on 'Reservation Road'

Expect plenty of mumbling when Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Ruffalo team up on "Reservation Road."

The drama, set up at Focus Features, will be directed by Terry George ("Hotel Rwanda") and will begin production this fall.

John Burnham Schwartz adapted his own Random House novel. According to Variety, Ruffalo plays a man who accidentally killed the son of Phoenix's character in a hit-and-run. When the grieving father seeks revenge, both men are changed.

George did a polish on the script.

An Oscar nominee for "Walk the Line," Phoenix recently finished reteaming with his "The Yards" director James Gray on "We Own the Night."

Ruffalo, last seen in "Rumor Has It," has completed an upcoming slate that includes "All the King's Men," "Zodiac" and "Margaret."
