TV Gal Is Taken With 'The Nine'
"The Nine" premieres Wednesday at 10 p.m. on
This is my first official assignment of the TV year. After you watch "The Nine," you must let me know what you think.
The Old Adventures with New TiVo
Well the healing process has begun. As most of you know, three weeks ago I woke up, turned on my TV and my TiVo was saying "Welcome ... warming up." And I thought, "Why are you warming up? You've been warmed up for over two years. What's wrong? Are you sick?" And it went down hill from there. A very nice lady on the TiVo help line informed me (and if I ever meet you I promise to do my impersonation), "Amy, I'm sorry to tell you everything you saved is gone. It's all gone. I know this is hard. I love my TiVo too." Frankly I felt a little betrayed.
Before I hooked up my new TiVo, we had a little talk. I explained that if I was making it save too many programs or record too much all it had to do was tell me. There was no need be all dramatic and act out with a total hard drive crash. And really there's no need for such bad behavior right before the launch of the new season. Thanks to all of you who sent me supportive messages during this very difficult time. It was good to hear from people who totally understood my pain -- not to mention the readers who made me so proud by informing me they own four TiVos. So slowly but surely the trust with new TiVo is being rebuilt. I will keep you posted.
Where Have I Seen Them Before?
Everyone was so thrilled to see
John recognized Christine Rose as Nathan and Peter's mother on "Heroes." She was Mike's mom on "Friends," Lydia on "Picket Fences," and Christopher's mother on "Gilmore Girls."
Kids they grow up so fast. While his brother Joey breaks rules on "Dancing with the Stars,"
Rob recognized Wayne Wilcox, Marty on
Frankly, we're all a little worried that
And so many of you were thrilled to see Tyler Labine, Dave last season on "Invasion," as the new prosecutor on "Boston Legal."

"Dude, I full on Swayze'd that mother." Dean to Sam and their dad on "Supernatural." Thanks to Barry for the quote.
"One of the things this show does is decide what's cool, and I've just decided it's no longer cool for grown men to dress as if they're in junior high school." Matt on "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip." Thanks to Aino for the quote.
"Oh please, if there were new guys, they would have shown up in the season premiere." Denny to Jeffrey and Claire on "Boston Legal." Thanks to Jeff for the quote.
"Do they still make floozies? I thought they discontinued floozies in the forties." Matthew to Christine on "The New Adventures of Old Christine."
"I love inside jokes. I'd love to be part of one someday." Michael on "The Office."
Highlights of the Week Ahead
All times listed are Eastern Time for October 2 to 8
Alas, one of the things Old TiVo took from me was the series finale of "Everwood" and it still doesn't look like we'll see the remaining seasons of my favorite series on DVD any time soon (all together now BOOOOOO). So thank goodness ABC Family begins airing "Everwood" Monday at 6 p.m.
You know it was one thing when there was nary a Walsh left in Beverly Hills, but I'm not sure how "7th Heaven" (Monday, CW, 8 p.m.) can continue with so few Camden children. I mean times are tough when Sam and David get fourth billing. This week, Lucy lies to Kevin, Martin cooks for Sandy, and Annie and Eric talk about their missing children.
Do we need another hero? Judging by the ratings, you guys definitely think so. It's not that I thought

Girl power activate. "Veronica Mars" returns for a third season Tuesday at 9 p.m. on
Some say the proof is in the pudding. I say the proof is in the second episode and "Smith" (Tuesday, CBS, 10 p.m.) is officially on probation with me. You can't have an extended motorcycle chase/music montage 15 minutes into your second episode. Unacceptable.
I know, I know. I should be watching "

That's all for today. I will be back next week to talk about "Grey's Anatomy" (and it's McThird season), the return of "What About Brian," thoughts on "Gilmore Girls" and "Prison Break" and much much more.
