With a laundry list of improvements and a roster chock-full of wrestling greats, THQ is ready to raise the bar for its already successful "WWE" series of games. While the sport itself hasn't changed much over the years, technology is always evolving, allowing for more detailed control over your Speedo-clad grappler. The "King of Fighters" franchise has been around for more than 15 years, pitting martial artists from around the world against one another in deadly combat. Now the action's back with lucky number 13, as a new roster of warriors faces off with hopes of only one thing: victory.
"The King of Fighters XIII" doesn't deviate off the genre's path too much, offering a basic arcade mode while giving perfectionists a chance to hone their skills in tutorial and mission modes. The game truly begins to shine in its story mode. This gameplay mode still brings you the martial arts, but with it come the dialogue, cut scenes and drama that the series is known for. Once you've met with the game's conclusion, start over and try it again from a new perspective with different choices, and you'll experience a completely different story.
Thanks to its roster of more than 30 characters to choose from and an engaging story mode to experience, it's safe to say that "The King of Fighters XIII" would be a great addition to any fighting fan's library of games.
