'Zombieland' dead at Amazon, creator blames the fans

Deadline reports that the streaming service has passed on the TV series based on the hit 2009 movie nearly a month after making the pilot available for viewing. The pilot, written and produced by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (who wrote the feature), featured a relatively unknown cast in place of the film's leads Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin.

On Thursday (May 16), Reese took to Twitter to admonish those who took issue with the pilot, blaming the failure to earn a series pickup on the fans. "I'll never understand the vehement hate the pilot received from die-hard 'Zombieland' fans," he wrote. "You guys successfully hated it out of existence."

Perhaps Reese might want to consider just what it was those fans disliked about the pilot? At any rate, "Zombieland" is not coming to Amazon, nor is it likely to live elsewhere.
