Zooey Deschanel doesn't like Thanksgiving food or know 'True American' rules
Add in some information about "True American," and it was a thoroughly charming interview.
Because Kimmel knew that Deschanel likes the fall season, he asked quickly about Thanksgiving. Deschanel's responses were about as quirky as you would expect. "I actually love my family, don't like Thanksgiving food," she said. When asked to explain why, the answer seemed to have a lot to do with the color scheme: "Most of it's beige or grey, which I just don't find appetizing ... Pumpkin pie's like an orange-beige."
Other Thanksgiving foods had problems that went beyond their hues. "Stuffing just like wet, soggy bread. I'd rather just have a piece of bread," Deschanel explained. "I'm not like, against turkey. I just feel like if we're talking about poultry, there are superior [birds]."
Moving on from the disappointment of Thanksgiving, Jimmy Kimmel really wanted an explanation for the "New Girl" drinking game, "True American." Alas, Deschanel couldn't be too helpful. "There aren't any rules," she said. "Literally, there aren't any. It's not a real game."
Even the stuff that showed up on "New Girl" was completely made-up. With no directions beyond "everyone standing on the couch" and "everything is lava," what audiences saw was little more than some brilliant improv.
That hasn't stopped fans from trying to play though. After all, "New Girl" and Zooey Deschanel made it look so fun!
