Singer reportedly walks down the aisle in May

Ashlee Simpson may have a birth to celebrate soon after her wedding.

A source close to the Simpson family claims that the singer is pregnant and that she's planning to say "I do" in May, reports People.

Ever since Simpson, 23, and Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz, 28, announced their engagement on April 9 online, gossipmongers insisted that the unexpected news was prompted by her delicate condition.

Initially, Wentz was outraged, labeling the rabid rumors a "witch hunt," but when Simpson addressed the speculation with "Some things you want to keep personal," on a Tuesday interview on MTV, the rumor mill grinded anew.

If the source is correct, Simpson is also trying to keep her upcoming nuptials quiet, planning a private ceremony at a friend's house in La Jolla, Calif.
