Britney Spears Not Charged in Car Mishap
Photographer claimed she ran over his foot; DA drops case
Prosecutors in Los Angeles have dismissed charges against the pop singer and recent "How I Met Your Mother" guest star after she allegedly ran over a paparazzo's foot last November. The photographer filed a criminal complaint last month.
After reviewing a videotape of the incident, however, the L.A. district attorney's office declined to pursue the case, several news outlets are reporting. The tape didn't show the photographer (whose name wasn't released) being hit, and prosecutors in fact concluded that "the only way the victim's foot could have been where the video indicates it to be was by the victim placing it in that location."
The DA's report also notes that Spears' car was surrounded by photographers and that she was driving safely, moving slowly and keeping the vehicle "in a straight path."
While that case is done, other aspects of Spears' life will still play out in court this week. A hearing is scheduled for Tuesday on her father's conservatorship. James Spears currently has control of his daughter's finances and filed papers last month to increase his pay.
