Actor's mother and sister claim he lashed out at them in London

The Dark Knight has run into some trouble, but not with his arch villains.

Christian Bale, who plays Batman in the summer blockbuster "The Dark Knight," insistst that he did not assault his mother and sister, allegations that lead to his arrest in London on Tuesday, July 22, reports People.

"Christian Bale attended a London police station today, on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister," the star's lawyers said in the statement. "Mr. Bale who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police. At this time, there will be no further comment by Mr. Bale."

On Sunday, Bale, 34, allegedly took his anger out on his mother Jenny, 61, and sister Sharon, 40, at London's Dorchester hotel. The next day, the two women went to a Hampshire police station, which turned the case over to London officers. Monday he did his expected rounds of interviews and public appearances surrounding the UK premiere of "The Dark Knight."

Bale was not charged even though he was taken into custody, which is why no name was released at the time. It's the policy in England to arrest a suspect questioning him in connection to a possible crime. He was released later Tuesday with a polic escort and will return to police in September for more questioning.

On Thursday he's scheduled to be in Barcelona for more film publicity.

"The Dark Knight" shattered box office records by becoming the highest-earning film on its opening weekend with $158,411,483 domestically, supplanting the debut weekend of " Spider-Man 3."
