Gillian Anderson has an Oscar now, but not for acting.

The former "X-Files" star gave birth to a baby boy named Oscar on Nov. 1 in London, reports People.

The boy, who weighed 6 lbs. 8 oz., was born three weeks early. Because of this, Anderson waited until he was out of intensive care to publicize his birth.

Oscar is the first child for Anderson and her boyfriend, businessman Mark Griffiths.

"Both [Oscar] and Gillian are just fine," says Anderson's manager Connie. Freiberg. "They are extremely happy –- the entire family."

In April, Anderson split with her husband Julian Ozanne, to whom she was married for 16 months. She married the photojournalist and documentary filmmaker in Kenya and settled in London with her 12-year-old daughter Piper from her previous marriage to Clyde Klotz.

The Emmy-winning Anderson, 38, is best known as Special Agent Dana Scully on the FOX drama "The X-Files." Recently, she starred as Lady Dedlock on the TV miniseries adaptation of Charles Dickens' "Bleak House" and on the big screen in "Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story" and "The Last King of Scotland."
