Hayden Panettiere's Dad Busted for Domestic Violence
Father felt he was 'disrespected' by wife
Hayden Panettiere, who had some father problems on "Heroes," is dealing with real-life daddy issues. The actress' father, Alan Panettiere, was arrested for felony domestic violence Monday morning (Aug. 11) in West Hollywood, reports People.
"There was a domestic argument between the mother and father," says Sgt. Scott Wolf, the West Hollywood sheriff's department. "He got upset and struck the mother in the face one or two times on the left cheek which caused some bruising. From what I'm told, he hit her with a closed fist.
"The mother called police shortly before 3 a.m., and Mr. Panettiere was taken into custody," Sgt. Wolf adds. "He's been cooperative. Earlier, they were at a party and the husband apparently felt disrespected by his wife."
TMZ.com first reported that Alan Panettiere, 49, and Lesley Vogel, 52, were at a benefit for the Whaleman Foundation with daughter Hayden at Eva Longoria's Beso restaurant in Hollywood where Alan felt his wife was "disrespecting" him.
At home the argument escalated into physical violence, causing Vogel to call the police. Visible marks left on the cheeks made it possible to arrest Panettiere on a felony charge instead of a misdemeanor.
It's unclear whether or not anyone else was at home at the time of the incident. Alan Panettiere is currently in custody, pending $50,000 bail.
Hayden Panettiere, 18, stars as the nigh invulnerable Claire Bennet on NBC's drama "Heroes," which returns for its third season on Monday, Sept. 22.
