Actress was held and released in Santa Barbara County

Heather Locklear hasn't had a very good year.

The actress, who only recently left a rehab center, was taken into police custody Saturday night, Sept. 27, reports TMZ.

The California Highway Patrol pulled her over in Santa Barbara on suspicion of driving while impaired after a resident called authorities, reporting that Locklear was driving "erratically" in a parking lot. The actress was not caught in the act, however. CHP officers only caught up to her once she had parked on a state highway, blocking a lane.

While there was not alcohol involved, officers are conducting tests to see if Locklear, who just turned 47, was under the influence of drugs such as prescription medications.

Locklear was arrested and held in Santa Barbara County and released on her own recognizance on Sunday without having to post bail.

It's possible that the actress' lawyer Blair Berk may try for a plea bargain for the reduced charge of reckless driving over DUI since the officers didn't actually see her operating the vehicle.

In July, Locklear exited an Arizona rehab facility where she was treated for anxiety and depression. In March, paramedics responded to Locklear's home after a 911 caller reported the actress was on the verge of a suicide attempt.

Locklear recently completed work on a Lifetime movie called "Flirting with 40." Her other recent credits include another Lifetime flick, "Angels Fall," and guest appearances on " Hannah Montana" and "Rules of Engagement."
