Actress has been married almost 10 years

Jasmine Guy, former star of the sitcom "A Different World," will soon enter the world of a divorcee.

The actress-dancer filed for divorce from her husband of nearly 10 years, Terrence Duckett, reports People.

"Jasmine would like to say that there is no villain in this scenario and that she is ending her marriage due to irreconcilable differences," says Guy's rep Paul Gendreau in a statement. "Jasmine would also like to thank everyone who wishes her and her family well, and asks that the press and the public allow her and her husband their privacy to work through what is a very difficult time."

The couple has a 9-year-old daughter, Imani. They married in August 1998.

Guy, 46, is reportedly seeking physical and legal custory of Imani and spousal support, although she is denying support for Duckett.

She also listed assets that she would like to be confirmed as her separate property. Some are obvious, such as bank accounts, her production companies, a 2006 Lexus GX470, her book "Evolution of a Revolutionary," jewelry, antiques and electronics. She also listed numerous personal items including her clothing, furniture, pots, pans, utensils, albums, CDs and DVDs, books, the piano (with piano bench) and the microwave.

Guy is best known as Southern belle Whitley Gilbert on "A Different World," a spinoff "The Cosby Show." Her other credits include "Harlem Nights" on the big screen, Broadway productions of "Chicago," "The Wiz" and "Grease," hosting PBS' "America's Ballroom Challenge" and the reaper-meter maid Roxy Harvey on Showtime's defunct series "Dead Like Me."
