Hollywood couple joins the ranks of those affected by the Ponzi scheme

Bernie Madoff can now boast that in the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon game, his Bacon Number is one.

The alleged securities fraudster had pulled actor Kevin Bacon and his wife Kyra Sedgwick into his Ponzi scheme, according to media reports.

Bacon's rep confirmed to New York magazine Tuesday that the Hollywood couple was the latest to be pulled into Madoff's massive fraud scheme that has affected numerous charities, universities, banks and wealthy individuals ever since he was arrested in mid-December and had his firm's assets frozen. Madoff himself is reported to have lost $50 billion.

There is no word on how much Bacon and his wife have lost.

Bacon currently appears in "Frost/Nixon," while Sedgwick stars in TNT's crime drama "The Closer," which will resume the second half of its fourth season in January.
