Laila Ali has come out swinging into motherhood.

The "American Gladiators" host and her husband, retired NFL star Curtis Conway announced on her website LailiAli.com Thursday that they had a son.

"Laila and husband Curtis Conway welcomed their first child together, a beautiful, healthy, baby boy, Tuesday, August 26, 2008," reads the site. "He's a healthy baby boy who weighed 6.8 lbs and measured 19 inches long. Mama and baby are resting!"

People reports that the baby will be known as CJ to help differentiate father and son.

The celebrity magazine also reports that "there were some surprises during labor that altered Laila's birth plan," which was to have a natural home birth with no medication.

No other details were revealed.

The boxing champ, 30, and Conway, 37, married in July 2007 in Los Angeles. Conway already has three children: daughter Leilani, 9, and twin sons Kelton and Cameron, 13.

Ali finished in third place on "Dancing With the Stars" with pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy and co-hosts "American Gladiators" with Hulk Hogan.
