Mischa Barton has been spared jail time, but will still pay for her DUI.

The former star of "The O.C." pleaded no contest to drunken driving and was sentenced to three years of unsupervised probation on Thursday, April 10, reports People.

The DUI case stems from a December arrest in which she was originally charged on four misdemeanor counts. As a result of the plea deal, the charge of driving without a licence was reduced to an infraction and the pot posession charge was dropped altogether.

"Ms. Barton understands the seriousness of this situation and assumes full responsibility for her actions," says her lawyer in a statement. "She and I are grateful to the Court and the District Attorney's Office for the prompt and respectful resolution of the case."

The 22-year-old actress will also have to pay an approximately $2,000 fine and complete three months of alcohol education classes.

On Dec. 27, Barton was stopped in West Hollywood at 2:46 a.m. when she was seen weaving between lanes and then making a turn without signaling. At the time, she was booked for driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of illegal narcotics and driving without a valid license.
