Morgan Freeman, Longtime Wife Divorcing

Actor has been in second marriage for 24 years

Morgan Freeman, who recently survived a serious automobile accident, is splitting with his wife of 24 years.

" The Dark Knight" actor and costume designer Myrna Colley-Lee have filed for divorce, report news sources.

The news comes on the heels of the Sunday night car crash in Mississippi in which Freeman, 71, and Demaris Meyer, 48, were passengers. The actor suffered a broken arm, broken elbow and minor shoulder injuries for which he underwent surgery.

Bill Luckett, who co-owns fine dining restaurant Madidi and the Ground Zero blues club with Freeman in Clarksdale, Miss., confirmed the news, saying the couple was in the middle of a "divorce action." He also says that Meyer, a top executive assistant at FedEx in Memphis, has been friends with Freeman for some time and that the divorce was in the works before the accident occurred.

Freeman is currently recovering from arm and hand surgery and will wear a neck brace for up to eight months.

Freeman was previously married to Jeanette Adair Bradshaw for about 12 years before divorcing. He then married Colley-Lee in June 1984. The actor has four children from previous relationships.
