Paris Bennett gave birth to a baby girl

Paris Bennett, who learned to sing from her mother and grandmother, has the chance to pass on the gift to another generation.

The former "American Idol" contestant welcomed a baby girl Monday afternoon, Oct. 6, reports People.

"I'm so excited to finally see my little angel -– and man, does she have lungs on her," says Bennett. 20. "I guess she's gearing up to be the next American Idol."

Egypt Bennett was born at 3:36 p.m. and weighed in at 5 lbs., 15 oz. She is the Bennett's first child.

"Paris's mother Jamecia Bennett and her family is filled with excitement and welcomes their bundle of joy," says her rep in a statement.

Bennett announced in June that she was expecting. The father of the baby prefers to remain out of the public eye.

Bennett, known as "Princess P" on the fifth season of "American Idol" finished in fifth place. Her album, "A Royal Christmas," will drop on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
