Shia LaBeouf won't be able to drive for a year

Shia LaBeouf will just have to get his driving kicks out on the screen for now.

The "Transformers" star has had his license suspended for a year as a result of a car crash last summer, reports People.

Early on July 27, LaBeouf, 22, was in a car accident in Hollywood when another car ran a red light and hit his vehicle. The actor sustained injuries to his hand that required surgery and having the condition written into the "Transformers" sequel he was filming at the time.

Although it was apparent LaBeouf was intoxicated, the DUI charge was rejected on the grounds of insufficient evidence because he did not submit to a blood alcohol test. That didn't let him off the hook though. In LA, when an individual refuses to take a blood alcohol test, that person's license can be suspended.

The suspension went into effect on Saturday, Jan. 17.

LaBeouf last starred opposite Michelle Monaghan in "Eagle Eye" and next appears on the big screen this summer in "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."
