'Transformers' Star Shia LaBeouf's Smoking Charge Dropped
Actor will only pay a $500 fine
The "Transformers" star had a misdemeanor charge of "unlawful smoking" in Burbank, Calif., dropped Thursday, April 24, reports People. Instead, LaBeouf paid a $500 fine.
On Feb. 18, the 21-year-old actor received a ticket in Burbank, Calif., for unlawful smoking on the sidewalk outside the boutique Sky Blue Pink. A month later, he was supposed to appear for a hearing in a Los Angeles courthouse, but neither he nor his lawyer showed their faces, which briefly resulted in a bench warrant. The warrant was rescinded the following day when the lawyer appeared in court to plead not guilty on behalf of his client.
LaBeouf was also arrested for trespassing in November when he was asked to leave a Chicago pharmacy. This charge was also dropped.
The actor next stars opposite Harrison Ford in "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," which opens worldwide on Thursday, May 22.
