Star Jones Files for Divorce
She and Al Reynolds have been married nearly four years
Three-and-a-half years after Star Jones' overblown, corporate-sponsored wedding to Al Reynolds, the couple is calling it quits. The former co-host of "The View" filed for divorce from her husband in Manhattan's New York Supreme Court on March 26, reports "Entertainment Tonight."
"Several years ago I made an error in judgment by inviting the media into the most intimate area of my life," says Jones, 46, in a statement released to the entertainment newsmagazine. "A month ago I filed for divorce. The dissolution of a marriage is a difficult time in anyone's life that requires privacy with one's thoughts. I have committed myself to handling this situation with dignity and grace and look forward to emerging from this period as a stronger and wiser woman."
The divorce petition, which was filed two days after Jones' birthday, was marked as an "Uncontested Matrimonial" case by the court and then sealed.
Reynolds, 39, and Jones met in November 2003 at the New York City celebration party for the release of an Alicia Keys album. They were engaged by February the following year. Despite tales of Reynolds' homosexuality, the lavish wedding before 500 guests proceeded at Saint Bartholomew's Church in New York City on November 13, 2004.
Jones is a laywer who's best known as a co-host of "The View." She most recently hosted her own show on truTV, formerly CourtTV.
