'Buffy,' 'Mother' Star Alyson Hannigan to Be a Mother

This will be the first child for the actress and her husband, actor Alexis Denisof

Former "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" co-stars Alyson Hannigan and Alexis Denisof are preparing to spawn the next generation of Joss Whedon fans.

The "How I Met Your Mother" star and her husband will welcome their first child this spring, reports People.

Hannigan, 34, and Denisof, 42, met in 1999 on the set of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," in which she played the witch Willow opposite his character Wesley, a member of the Watcher's Council. The couple married in October 2003 near Palm Springs, Calif.

On "HIMYM," Hannigan currently plays Lily, who is married to Jason Segel's character Marshall, and was conspicuously the one character who did not drink scotch in a recent episode's flash-forward scene. Fans speculate that perhaps art is imitating life.

Denisof went on from "Buffy" to its spinoff "Angel" and has also guest starred on his wife's show, playing Sandy Rivers.
