Brit Bachelor Matt Grant, Shayne Lamas Split
'The Bachelor: London Calling' has disconnected
"The Bachelor's" track record for couples splitting up continues.Matt Grant, the British chap looking for love on "The Bachelor: London Calling," and fiancee Shayne Lamas have ended the relationship that began on television, reports People.
"We tried hard to make it work but we realized that we were both heading in different directions," the two said in a statement. "We truly care about each other and will remain close friends."
Grant, 27, and the 22-year-old actress Lamas, daughter of actor Lorenzo Lamas, got engaged in May on the finale of "The Bachelor: London Calling." A month later, even though Grant had moved out of her Century City condo, they remained engaged ... until now.
So far, no "Bachelor" couple has made it to the altar, although Bachelor No. 6 Byron Velvick and Mary Delgado are still reportedly together even after she was arrested for punching him in the mouth, causing him to bleed. Trista Rehn has had better luck as "The Bachelorette," landing and marrying fireman Ryan Sutter. The couple had their first child together last year.
Earlier this month, former "Bachelor" Andrew Firestone married model-actress Ivana Bozilovic, someone he met outside of the show. On the latest season of "The Bachelorette," DeAnna Pappas awarded her final rose to pro snowboarder Jesse Csincsak, and they announced their wedding date: May 9, 2009. She was elected to be the next Bachelorette after Season 11 Bachelor Brad Womack rejected both her and her rival, becoming the first Bachelor to not pick anyone.
