'Desperate Housewives' Jesse Metcalfe Survives 40-Foot Fall
The actor has a clean bill of health except for a fractured fibula
The "Desperate Housewives" hunk was knocked unconscious when he fell from a second-story balcony in Monaco where he was helping host the World Music Awards on Sunday, Nov. 9, and fractured his leg bone, reports People.
Metcalfe, 29, was sitting on the ledge of the balcony at the club Jimmy'z when he fell backwards and tumbled down about 40 feet. He was rushed to the Grasse hospital where he had an X-ray and brain scan. After he was discharged Monday, he flew to London where he underwent a CAT scan at a private hospital.
"Luckily for him it came up a clean bill of health," says his London-based rep. "To have fallen that distance and not have any major injuries was a miraculous escape. It was a very scary experience for him and those of us who saw him. It was a nasty fall. He was found face down on the floor ... It could easily have been fatal."
The only real damage was a fractured fibula, aka the calf bone. Metcalfe will undergo physiotherapy.
The rep adds that his client only had a "couple of glasses of champagne" after working at the awards show. Metcalfe had checked himself into rehab to deal with "alcohol issues" in March 2007.
