John Travolta and Kelly Preston's Teenage Son Dies
Jett Travolta was 16 years old
John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston's son Jett died suddenly during a family vacation in the Bahamas, reports Reuters.
According to attorney Michael Ossi, 16-year-old Jett suffered from a seizure at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on Grand Bahama Island and hit his head on the bathtub when he fell. He was found by a nanny Friday morning around 10 a.m. and despite Travolta's attempts to revive his son, he died at the scene.
On Sunday, the family released a statement: "We would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks to everyone who has sent their love and condolences. Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered. We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time we had with him for the rest of our lives."
Jett has had a history of seizures. Although there had been speculation that he was autistic, Travolta insists that his son instead suffered from Kawasaki Syndrome, a condition that can affect the lymph nodes, blood, heart and skin.
Jett was the couple's oldest child. They also have a daughter, Ella Blue, born in 2000. Travolta named his Boeing 707-138 plane Jett Clipper Ella in honor of his children.
