He still loves Britney, but isn't 'in love' with her

Now that Britney Spears is in the spotlight for her "Circus" comeback, that means her former hubby is of interest again.

Kevin Federline claims he was "blindsided" by her when she filed for divorce and reveals his thoughts about their relaitonship and children in an interview with People.

The 30-year-old former backup dancer reflects on what he thinks what went wrong with their marriage, which lasted for two years before ending in 2006 and produced two sons: Preston, 3, and Jayden, 2.

"It's hard enough to be in a marriage, and then have a kid, then kids, it changes everything," he confides. "For me, I'd become more concerned with my children. Not that I ignored Britney, but my kids are always most important ... I mean, we were having complications. I didn't give her an ultimatum, but I was trying to work stuff out with her, and she didn't even talk to me or anything and went behind my back and filed [for divorce]. [I was] completely blindsided."

Federline also denies that his fight for custody was about money.

"My first question to [my lawyer] was, 'Am I ever going to be able to see my children?'" he states. "I told him that I would spend every last dime that I had to make sure that my children are okay. That's all that mattered. I didn't know how much power Britney had. That really scared me."

Also scary was the January incident in which Spears locked herself and Jayden up in the bathroom.

"I was very, very worried for her 'cause I care about her," he says. "That's the mother of my children. Just because I'm not in love with her doesn't mean that I don't love her."

He's optimistic about how her life is turning around though, which means that she has more access to the kids. And although Spears had previously criticized his parenting choices, claiming that he had taught their kids to curse, Federline says that there's structure in both households.

In the interview he also reveals what it was like to first meet Spears and how he was happiest at their wedding.

Federline is a man of many talents, and after dancing, he dabbled in rap and acting, making appearances on "CSI" and "One Tree Hill."
