This year of the recently ended NBC medical drama was marked by a significant exit, with Dr. John Carter ( Noah Wyle) deciding to leave Chicago's County General after a long arc that took him from uncertain rookie to consummate professional.

It also saw a notable entrance with Shane West ("Once and Again") as Dr. Ray Barnett; co-stars continuing their runs here include Maura Tierney, Mekhi Phifer, Alex Kingston, Laura Innes, Goran Visnjic, Sherry Stringfield and Parminder Nagra. *** (Not rated: AS, P)
