The Arthur Hailey novel that inspired a 1967 movie also spawned this 1980s ABC series produced by television titan Aaron Spelling.

Instead of the original New Orleans location, the St. Gregory now is in San Francisco, where James Brolin plays the manager determined to please guests and the site's owner ( Anne Baxter, though Bette Davis filled that spot in the pilot episode, included here).

Cast regulars also include Connie Sellecca and Shari Belafonte. *** (Not rated: AS, P)
