"The X-Files: I Want to Believe" had an unfortunately brief tour of theaters before disappearing, perhaps due to its lack of alien bounty hunters, sentient black oil or shady government conspiracies. While the series' monster-of-the-week episodes fared well, on the big screen "I Want to Believe's" take on organ harvesting seems too small to command the attentions of former FBI agents Mulder and Scully.

The first disc has theatrical and extended versions of the movie, plus a handful of deleted scenes, a gag reel, a video from rapper/co-star Xzibit, and a couple of behind-the-scenes featurettes. The second disc is entirely taken up with a three-part making-of documentary called "Trust No One: Can the X-Files Remain a Secret?" The third disc is a digital copy of the movie.

DVD Bonus Features:

The Good: You want a comprehensive making-of documentary? "Trust No One" is for you. Even split into three parts, the doc is meaty and filled with fairly candid interviews from the cast and crew. In many ways, it's more fascinating than the feature presentation, thanks to the drama of trying to resurrect a beloved but extremely convoluted (plot-wise) television series on the big screen. Series co-creators Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz give good commentary, if somewhat dry at times.

The Bad: What, no aliens? After waiting this long for Mulder and Scully to return, it's a shame the storyline could have been plugged into any generic network police procedural.

The Price: $34.98
