Rhona Mitra ("Doomsday") takes over from Kate Beckinsale as the female lead in this chapter of the saga of vampires versus werewolves.

This is a prequel of sorts, explaining how the battle between the groups began; Michael Sheen makes a big switch from "Frost/Nixon" territory to play the human with Lycan blood who starts a romance with a vampire (Mitra), prompting her father (series returnee Bill Nighy) to curtail the relationship. Danny McBride ("Tropic Thunder"), who also co-wrote the script, co-stars.
