Still, the star does what he's meant to do in this action tale from director Renny Harlin ("Cliffhanger"), about a police detective targeted by a felon (Aidan Gillen, "The Wire") whose girlfriend's death is partially on the hands of Cena's character.
The villain abducts the cop's love (Ashley Scott, "Jericho") and uses her as bait to force the hero into "12 rounds" of risky challenges. Steve Harris ("The Practice") also stars. ** (PG-13: AS, V) (Also on Blu-ray)
