'Crazy Heart'
Jeff Bridges' Oscar nominations date back nearly 40 years, but he finally won as best actor for his superb performance in director-screenwriter Scott Cooper's drama about a country-music performer who's his own worst enemy.
He gets a chance at redemption from a much-younger reporter (Maggie Gyllenhaal), and also from a budding collaboration with another musician (Colin Farrell). Robert Duvall, also a producer of the film, is in the cast as well; music veteran T-Bone Burnett also earned an Oscar as co-writer of the song "The Weary Kind." DVD extras: deleted scenes; alternate music cuts. **** (R: AS, P) (Also on Blu-ray)
