The world of video games proves to be lethal, at least in the near future, in this action tale from "Crank" writer-directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. Gerard Butler forgoes the romantic-comedy image he's been cultivating to return to brawn – with a dose of smarts added – as one game's top player, who seeks to detach from the contest's influence by challenging its inventor (Michael C. Hall, "Dexter").
