A lovely, multiple-episode performance by Bess Armstrong as the mother of Haley, Quinn and Taylor (Bethany Joy Galeotti, Shantel VanSanten, Lindsey McKeon) is a major highlight of this round of the CW drama series.
Her personal crisis means plenty of drama for her daughters as well ... and it's impressive that actress Galeotti also directed one of the pivotal stories here. Sophia Bush and James Lafferty remain in the regular cast, and Daphne Zuniga ( "Melrose Place") returns as Brooke's (Bush) mother. *** (Not rated: AS, P)
