A family's newest member may not be all that welcome in this remake of a cult-classic 1987 thriller. Penn Badgley ("Gossip Girl") plays a military-school student who returns home to find a new man ( Dylan Walsh, "Nip/Tuck") in his mother's (Sela Ward) life. It doesn't take long for the young man to suspect the newcomer is up to no good, and not much longer than that for the hunch to be confirmed.

Amber Heard, Sherry Stringfield ("ER"), Paige Turco and Jon Tenney ("The Closer") also appear in the film's "Unrated Director's Cut." DVD extras: two "making-of" documentaries; audio commentary by Walsh, Badgley and director Nelson McCormick; outtakes. ** (Not rated: AS, P, V) (Also on Blu-ray)
