'The Way We Get By'

Featured last year and again more recently on the PBS series "POV," this deeply moving documentary (offered in a "Special Edition") profiles several Maine senior citizens who greet American soldiers returning from duty. One of the greeters - Joan Gaudet - is the mother of the film's writer-director, Aron Gaudet.

Without making any overt judgments about America's military involvement, those who provide the warm welcomes often evoke strong emotions from those they embrace when the troops step back onto U.S. soil. **** (Not rated: P)
