Televised at the start of the year by PBS, this miniseries explores – and offers suggestions on overcoming – hurdles that prevent people from achieving true happiness. Katie Couric, Richard Gere, Chevy Chase, Larry David ("Curb Your Enthusiasm") and singer Alanis Morissette are among the celebrities who participate, but the bulk of the program is presented by Harvard psychology professor and author Daniel Gilbert. He also considers scientific developments in the crusade toward contentment. *** (Not rated: P)
