Seven years after its debut, you can now relive (or experience for the first time) the glory of "Witchblade: The Complete Series" without depending on illegal methods or grainy video tapes thanks to this new DVD release.
Based on the Top Cow comic sensation about New York cop Sara Pezzini and the mystical weapon she ends up wielding, "Witchblade" lasted two seasons on TNT for a total of 23 episodes. Part for part, it probably has the best matched cast of any similar project - every actor at least partially resembles their four-color counterparts and very much embody their spirits. It's a shame we didn't get a third season so they could capitalize on the Season 2 reset. Anyway, the seven discs are housed in a case roughly twice the size of a regular DVD box and doesn't take up too much shelf-space. It also comes with a handy pull-out episode guide organized by disc.
DVD Bonus Features:
The Good: The picture quality is great and the brand new soundtrack is solid. The Casting Session Special Feature, which features all the primary actors, is interesting (especially Etebari's) and the two behind-the-scenes featurettes are enlightening. The menus are easy to navigate but...
The Bad: ...while I appreciate the simplicity of the menus, they're not the most captivating things you've ever seen. There are very few Special Features. Since the picture is so good, the stock footage and special effects can be glaringly obvious.
The Price: $69.98
