"You Don't Mess with the Zohan" is an odd bird: It takes Adam Sandler's typical man-child underdog and makes him (in this case, the titular Zohan) into an Israeli supercommando. It's difficult to hope Zohan wins a woman's heart and follows his dream when he's already surrounded by gorgeous women and can punch through walls. The two-disc unrated version of the movie is also an odd bird: The second disc is largely superfluous, containing only a few actual special features (and disappointing ones at that).

Let's not fight over the main event's humor (or lack thereof). Sandler fans will find it funny as usual, and the rest of us can stare at Emmanuelle Chriqui. If you're reading this, you want to know whether the DVD has enough other material to make the purchase worthwhile. It does.

DVD Bonus Features:

The Good: The main-disc commentary with Sandler, co-stars Rob Schneider and Nick Swardson and writer Rob Smigel is funnier than the movie itself. The four have a good time and manage to effectively take viewers behind the scenes while only occasional slinging inside jokes from the shoot. The main disc is absolutely packed with extras, from the usual interviews to a good look at how Mexico doubled for Israel.

The Bad: The entire second disc. Will even Sandler fans laugh at fake newscasts starring the movie's characters? The one mostly worthwhile featurette, interviews with Sandler's 16 (!) body doubles, is a little heavy on the mugging. Let's not even talk about the featurette devoted to Zohan's sex life. On a superficial note, the stars' commentary is marred by someone regularly snurfling his nose. No way to edit that out, guys?
