Jon Stewart blocks Conan O'Brien's shot at revenge
The Emmys had the promise of finally giving Conan O'Brien the opportunity to stick it to NBC with a win for best variety series for his short-lived stint hosting "The Tonight Show." Instead, "The Daily Show with Jon Stewar took it home for the ninth time -- and the eighth year running -- denying us the hilarious, carefully worded kiss-off everyone expected.
Making matters worse: Stewart couldn't even show, so we had to endure his unfamiliar colleagues accepting on his behalf, while a well-groomed O'Brien looked on from the audience.
At least we got a fantastic Conan clip reel that ended with a building imploding and dead air.
