Consider "The Ruins: Unrated Edition" to be a stiff chaser to M. - 'American Idol' Cuts to Nine - For this first time this season, the occasionally reliable, semi-scientific prognosticators at DialIdol are reporting that a singer other than Presumptive American Idol Winner David Archuleta got the most votes. - 'The Good German' - George Clooney gives the impression of a man who would prefer to have been born into another time and milieu. Maybe it's his villas on Lake Como, surely the quintessence of faded, old Europa splendor. - DVD Review: 'The Bourne Ultimatum' - Directed by Doug Liman, "The Bourne Identity" was a spiffy little summer action movie, carried by brisk car stunts and a confident performance by Matt Damon. Paul Greengrass took over "The Bourne Supremacy" and ratcheted up the tension to stomach-churning levels, while never sacrificing Jason Bourne's increasingly tortured soul. With Greengrass back at the helm, could "The Bourne Ultimatum" wrap the franchise up in a tidy bow?

- 'The Spiderwick Chronicles: 2-Disc Field Guide Edition' -
Although "The Spiderwick Chronicles" is one of the many book-to-screen children's fantasy series capitalizing on the Harry Potter phenomenon, it doesn't play as a pale imitation of the franchise but instead is an enjoyable adventure on its own. The special 2-disc edition of the film is a fun addition to a home video library because of its clever packaging and numerous entertaining bonus features. - NBC's 'Mercy' slips into 'Parenthood's' premiere date - For once, NBC is deciding to keep things simple.
