Cyber Criminals Taking Advantage of Twilight Eclipse Hype

While Twilight Mania is taking over movie theaters, cyber criminals are eyeing the web.

The new movie has been trending on Google and Twitter all week, and scammers are taking advantage of the hype.

They make sure their Twilight links end high up in Google search, so unsuspected fans looking for the latest video, get a pop-up instead. It's a genuine-looking screen that says the computer is infected, and encourages the user to download an anti-virus program.

But that program is fake. Eclipse-fans that fall for the scam, can end up losing their credit card details to cyber criminals.

This is the second time in a few weeks that a warning was released to Twilight fans. Last week, scammers tried to target Twihards searching for an interview with the author of the series.
