Will play love interest in Hunter S. Thompson adaptation

Johnny Depp has a new love.

Amber Heard will join Depp on the cast of "Rum Diary," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Heard will play another man's girlfriend who tries to seduce Depp's character; fairly tame for a Hunter S. Thompson adaptation. Good news, guys: The role was passed over by a number of higher-profile actresses because of the nudity involved.

Shooting begins in March.

Depp, 45, can be seen this year in "Public Enemies." Heard, 22, had a role in 2008's " Pineapple Express."
