Jolie/Pitt Foundation Donates Millions
Global Action for Children and Doctors Without Borders receive $1 mil each
The stars have formed the Jolie/Pitt Foundation, which will donate $1 million each to Global Action for Children and Medecins sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders), report news souces.
"In the most troubled parts of the world -- places that much of the world has abandoned -- MSF is always there," says Jolie in a statement. "I have seen these brave men and women working in war zones and horrific conditions and I deeply admire them."
The couple's philanthropic and political adviser Trevor Neilson also tells People, "Angelina and Brad are committed to using their resources to help the world's most vulnerable people. These two organizations are focusing on crises that receive far too little attention and Angelina and Brad are happy to do their part to help."
The charities aid families affected by HIV/AIDS and extreme poverty worldwide.
Jolie has been active in worldwide humanitarian efforts and previously concentrated her attention in Cambodia, the country that she grew to love after shooting scenes from "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" there. She's donated $1.5 million to fund its nature conservation project, Cambodian Vision in Development. She is also a goodwill ambassador for the United Nation's refugee agency.
Jolie and Pitt's biological daughter Shiloh has also done her bit. Her first photos were sold to two celebrity magazines for $4.1 million and $3.5 million apiece, which benefitted children's causes in Africa.
Pitt's upcoming films include "Babel," Alejandro González Inarritu's drama opening in limited release this fall, and "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford," scheduled for a 2007 release.
Jolie co-stars with Robert De Niro and Matt Damon in De Niro's "The Good Shepherd," opening in December.
