'Bangkok Dangerous' star, Aaron Johnson and Lyndsy Fonseca join the comic book adaptation.

Aaron Johnson has landed the lead role in Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of the comic "Kick-Ass," with Nicolas Cage in a key supporting role.

Also joining the big screen version of the Mark Millar comic are Lyndsy Fonseca and Chloe Moretz.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johnson plays the main character, a high school dweeb who doesn't let his lack of skills and powers keep him from trying to become a superhero. When he runs into actual supervillains, this not-quite-hero runs into some problems.

Fonseca plays the dweeb's love interest, while Cage is a former cop trying to take down a crime boss. Moretz plays the daughter of Cage's character.

Also cast in the film is Christopher Mintz-Plasse ("Superbad").

Matthew Vaughn ("Stardust") is directing the independently finance film, which will shoot in London and Toronto this fall.

Johnson is a relative newcomer. The British actor appeared in "Shanghai Knights" and "The Illusionist" as well as in the TV shows "Talk to Me" and "Nearly Famous."

Last seen in "National Treasure: Book of Secrets" and "Next," "Cage has " Bangkok Dangerous" and "Knowing" in the can.

Fonseca's credits include " How I Met Your Mother" and " Big Love."
