'Button' star to pair with Crowe for Universal drama

Cate Blanchett is in final talks to take to the screen as Maid Marian in Universal's yet-to-be-named Robin Hood movie that will focus on retelling the origins of its key characters.

The leading lady will be joined by Russell Crowe, according to The Hollywood Reporter. No word yet on who will round out the band of merry men, but the film is prepping for an April shoot in the U.K.

"Body of Lies" and "American Gangster" director Ridley Scott will take the reins. He will co-produce the pic with Brian Grazer.

Crowe recently worked with Scott in "Body of Lies." He will hit the big screen in April in "State of Play." Blanchett last showcased her leading woman skills as Daisy in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" in 2008.
